
KC VARSITY EVENT COVERAGE | Rising LB/DB prospects impress in Kansas City — The first of two KC Varsity Combine events run by Wayne Orr and Richard Elkins took place on Saturday at Blue Valley Northwest and featured a host of talented prospects from around the midwest, including several prospects who earned invitations to The FINALS All-America Showcase on May 29 at Liberty North High School.
Here, Six Star Football takes a look at several of the top LB and RB prospects who stood out at the event.
369 – Liam Blaser
, 6’0, 210, MLB/RB, 2023, Columbus (NE)

Blaser is one of the true do it all athletes that you will see on a Nebraska football field this year and has been one of the most productive and high energy motor players that you will find on a Nebraska football field. Blaser, an All-State Honorable Mention selection and First Team All-Conference honoree, is a player that has a great combination of both power (450 squat, 300 bench) and speed, reports a 4.7 time in the 40 yard dash. Liam turned in a huge offensive year out of the backfield as a junior with 895 all-purpose yards, 12 touchdowns and was a tough and physical runner that impressed. Also a beast on defense, Liam from his middle linebacker spot had 94 tackles, eight tackles for losses, three sacks, and added four interceptions as one huge cover talent also for a linebacker prospect.
130 – Jamir Conn

Conn is a very impressive footwork and speed defensive back that can play both corner and safety, one of the athletes that has some very impressive athletic skills, Conn reports a 4.6 time in the 40 yard dash and also has a 36.5 inch vertical. Peru State recently offered Conn who has been a DB that has gained a lot of college interest and looks from impressive schools from across the midwest. Has some very quick feet and is a guy that is a top open field tackler and athlete in the 2023 class to know.

One of the players we have as a top tier prospect in the 2023 senior class is Lincoln SW’s Brogan Ling, a long and rangy and built for the next level length 6-3, 189 speedy edge talent to know from his outside linebacker spot. Ling adds speed to his impressive length to be a hot radar maker on the Nebraska football scene, Ling reports a hand timed 4.47 time in the 40 yard dash and a laser mark of 4.63. With a 6’5 inch wingspan also Ling is one of the guys that is nearly impossible to escape on the edge, length, speed and an ability to be long and rangy make Ling a hot must see ‘23 in Nebraska football.45 tackles, 18 solo, , four sacks, one forced fumble, and one INT for this impressive ‘23 outside defender.

One of the standout athletes in Kansas City football, Patrick, a 6-1, 170 QB.DB and athlete from Blue Springs South is a player that is one of the best we have seen at adjusting to the football while its in the air to make a big play guys, plays smart and knows where to be on the football field to make the best play happen. Also like his aggressive style of play against the WR in coverage, a guy that can get into the WR and rattle his man at the line and take him out of his game. Good speed and one of the top open field athletes to have on the radar in KC.

One of the linebackers that is a riser in the 2023 class from Lansing High School, Ramirez has been a very impressive player this offseason, and is a player that can play both outside and inside linebacker. A very physical player taht is a tough and physical player on the outside edges, one of those guys that can fight off blocks and make big plays happen. Ramirez is a player that can read and react quickly and a player that has a big upside for being a physical talent to know. Class of ‘23 backer to have on the college radar.
258 – Draven VanGilder

Middle linebacker in the class of ‘23, VanGilder is one of the most impressive linebackers in SW Missouri, a First Team All-COC player at backer, named a Missouri Class 6 District 3 All-District linebacker and was a First Team All SWMFCA player. No doubt VanGlider is a tackling machine that broke the Joplin High School school record for tackles with a huge junior year of 173 tackles. Also is a rugged and physical player that uses his wrestling background to be one of the most physical backers in the state.
435 – Cameron Wolfe

A very impressive looking defensive back/hybrid linebacker, 6-0, 190, Wolfe is a player that is fast and a very good natural athlete, Wolfe earned All-Conference and All-District linebacker honors and was a force in the middle for Platte County. Wolfe racked up 48 tackles, eight tackles for losses, two forced fumbles, three fumbles recovered, and two interceptions. His ability to be a player that can drop back into coverage, be a guy around the football at all times, and be a hard hitting machine to watch for in the middle.
529 – William Wolfe, 6’3, 200, OLB, 2023, Webb City @williamwolfe04
Wolfe is a tenacious outside linebacker that is very fast and quick to string running plays out and make some very big stops happen from his outside edge spot,Wolfe is a very good athlete that reports a 37.5 inch vertical and also reports a 10’6 broad jump and a 4.44 time in the 40 yard dash. Wolfe also had a top pro agility time of 4.02 time and no doubt is a very quick and agile defensive standout. Also being 6-3 inches tall, Wolfe is a long and lengthy player with a long stride that can cover a lot of ground to and be a tackler that is tough and physical for the Cardinals defense. One of the elite prospects that is from Southwest Missouri, impressive speed and a very good looking athlete to take notice of.
