KANSAS CITY SHOWCASE: Big and Tough, ’22 class OL that dominated – So many impressive class of 22 big men, could have been the most impressive group position wise at the Showcase, no doubt Key of Derby and Farkes of Shawnee Mission NW along with Olathe North’s Hysell & Lane all were among Kansas player that dominated in the trenches at the Showcase.
Braxton Bailey
, 6-3, 285, OL, 2022, McPherson @BraxtonBailey9
There is no reason to think that will his frame, vast experience and power that Bailey couldn’t be one of the most impressive class of ‘22 senior next level prospects out there. Bailey is one big time looking player that can make huge things happen and we like his upside in the trenches as a big time next level recruit. No doubt one of the big men that we think has big time player written all over him, a guy that had a very good year in 2020 and one of those guys that can be a huge man in the trenches, great size 6-3,285 pounds. Bailey is a player that looks to be a future star at offensive right tackle at McPherson high school was the only starting junior on the line. Braxton started every game for McPherson in 2020 and will bring that experience back for 2021 and look to be one of the hottest big men in the state. Excellent footwork and pass protection are key strengths for Bailey who benches 270 and squats 410. If you’re a college its prime time to start in on guys with his size and experience for the next level, Bailey is a good one.
Levi Cooley
, 6-4, 310, OL, 2022, Basehor Linwood @LeviCooley70
At 6-4, 300 pounds Cooley tips the scales as one of the biggest offensive lineman in our top 10 list and he was only a super sophomore in 2020, with two more years left we think Cooley has the makings of becoming one of the hottest recruits in the Kansas class of 2023. At left tackle Cooley earned First Team All-UKC honors and is a player that takes no prisoners on the OL, Cooley has the skills and size the best the best of the best at we think has that makings to be the top class of ’23 OL in the KC metro.
Kael Farkes
, 6-3, 250, OL/C, 2022, Shawnee Mission NW @Kael_Farkes
One of the most talented big men that has made a significant impact on both sides of the football has been Shawnee Mission Northwest’s Kael Farkes, a player that had 36 total tackles, 27 were solo, one batted ball, with two tips leading to INTs, and no sacks allowed from his play at Center. Could be the top center prospect in the state, no doubt a big mover that has some great leverage and height to his frame and is a powerful force to reckon with. Farkes is getting major college early looks from schools like South Dakota State, North Dakota State, St. Thomas, Air Force and Butler CC just to name a few colleges that really are liking what they see in Farkes. This guy is a pure stud in the trenches and can be as good as any lineman in the state, has that huge big time potential to be a crusher down low.
Tyler Gourley
, 6-2, 290, OL, 2022, Free State @Tyler_Gourley03
Gourley, a top 10 player in the class of 2022, is one of those players that can make it happen and a guy that has both power and skills, a player ranked in our top ten KC Metro OL list for top recruits in 2022 class, Gourley is big time impressive for sure and should be one of the most heavily looked at big men in the state in 2021. At6-2, 290 pounds Gourley is one of the big time bodies in the state among its bigger lineman and this two time Sunflower League Honorable Mention pick is primed for a stellar senior season ahead. Big time talent for sure.
Mason Hyskell
, 6’3 275, OL, 2022, Olathe North @masonhyskell67
This guy is the epitome of what strength and power translates to on the field. The stacked O-Line at Olathe North will be senior heavy and could be tops in the state. Hyskell is a huge force with power and Greta next level size and toughness. A 275 bench and a 500 pound squat impress. A very experienced starter as well for Olathe North that can make some huge blocks and plays for their potent blocking unit up front.
Caleb Jones
, 6’4, 285, 2022, OL, Beatrice @clbjonesy
The very big and powerful 6-4 inch 285 Caleb Jones is a big man in the trenches that will be a heavily counted upon pusher and mover again as a senior veteran in 2021 for Beatrice. Jones no doubt has the size and toughness to be a major factor and with his experience and brawn we think he can pull in some nice next level college offers and looks in 2021. Holds a very impressive 285 pound bench and a 385 pound squat in the weight room as a pair of key attributes to his toughness and power.
Alex Key
, 6’4, 260, OL, 2022, Derby @alexkey_02
Key is among the most impressive big men in Kansas right now at 6-4, 260 he can really move the pile and has all the skills to be a nice next level OL. Derby has some of the best OL in the state right now and we think that Key has to be considered among those big time stock risers and our best OL prospects. Eastern Michigan has offered and we expect many more D1s to offer Key, also a high IQ and excellent student who is getting next level interest from schools like Harvard as well. A huge talent and a guy that can do it all, expect Key to be a monster recruit in the Kansas class of 2022.
Parker Lane
, 6-3, 260, OL, 2022, Olathe North @ParkerL40513059
We like Lane as one of the top players among big men in the class of 2022, a guy that has really come on strong recently and proven that he belongs in the elite group of top trench Kansas dominators of ‘22. Lane creates those big holes to run behind for some of the elite running backs out there like newcomer Quantez Love. Lane, the starting left guard can bench 300 and is really good at run blocking and an overall aggressive player. No doubt when you think of big men for the next level Lane is a guy in the KC area that rises to the top of the top for big men.
Andrew Mann
, 6-4, 260, OL, 2022, Andover Central @Andrew_Mann64
Mann is possibly the top stock riser among all class of 2022 big men and looks to be a guy that should crack our top big men rankings list in the near future with his impressive 6-4 frame and ability to dominate in the trenches. Mann is a very physical player and has made four starts this year and looked like a dominator to be reckoned with for Andover Central. Mann benches 275, squats 385, and deadlifts 315. A powerful and impressive big man, Mann is looking like one of the most impressive new names to know for the 2020 season. A huge next level prospect with a major upside for the next level.
Wyatt Newcomer
, 6-2, 285, OL, 2022, Liberty North @wyattnewcomer
Newcomer is a big man with some big time talent for Liberty and every time this impressive 6-2 inch 285 pound OL goes to battle the defense struggles to get any movement against him, a great power and hands usage guy that has been impressive for sure. Really loves to be physical and is explosive with his blocking, can drive a guy and ruff him up with his 6-2 leverage frame and is a guy that brings some of that nasty attitude to his game you love to see if you are an OL coach and teammate behind him. One special big time talent in the ‘22 at Liberty.
Dalton Owen
, 6’3, 300, OL, 2022, Concordia @DaltonOwen16
Owen is a major talent and could be one of the best and most underrated prospects entering the 2021 season with his size and next level skillset, the 6-3, 300 pound Owen has the makings of being one of the top bulldozers in the state, a guy that can really pave the way for his runners and buy time for the QB at Concordia, Owen is one of the most valuable offensive weapons on the team and should be a hot pick for colleges to look at needing a big man for their lines.
Chaylin Peine
, 6-5, 280, OL, 2022, Anderson County @chaylinpeine
Peine is one of those guys that when you watch him you notice his size is very impressive. An Eastern Kansas hot prospect to know and one of those eye catching big men at 6-5, 265, Peine has one huge senior year ahead left to make an even bigger name for himself and has all the skills to do just that. Benches 275 and Squats 355. rep max. His primary position is left guard but also plays defensive tackle. Earned All-State Honorable Mention honors as well for his big time play in the trenches. South Dakota, Drake, and St. Thomas are among the many interested schools in Peine.
