KANSAS CITY SHOWCASE: Big timer performing RBs in ’22 class – Taking a look at some of the very impressive class of 2022 RBs that really showed out and performed well at the 6Star Football Showcase, Adelhardt is 185 pounds of toughness from Garden Plain HS Kan., Washington KCK’s Jason Black in a speedy play maker as well from Kansas and Missouri backs Murray and Surratt also were among the most impressive runners.
Reed Adelhardt, 6-2, 185, RB, 2022, Garden Plain @AdelhardtReed
Had 21 solos, 29 assists and seven tackles for losses with two fumble recoveries and one caused fumble in 2019 in a very nice sophomore season and that experience will be a huge senior deal come 2021 at Garden Plain. The Mt. Carmel transfer stepped right into the action as a junior this past season in 2020 and has become a stellar RB sensation that can make it happen. Fresh off a 1,179 yard season and a 7.7 yards per carry year, Adelhardt earned 1st team CPL running back, second team CPL linebacker, district 6 1st team running back, district 6 offensive mvp, District 6 1st team linebacker, and All State honorable mention running back. Watch out for Reed in 2021 for a huge season as key Kansas college RB prospect in the ‘22 class.
Jason Black, 6-0,180,RB, 2022, Washington @JasonTheFuture
4.3 speed in the 40, no doubt Washington’s Jason Black is one of the fast flyers in the state and a key rushing threat for the offense at Washington. Has good upfield vision and is a hard guy to tackle in space. Black could be a guy that colleges really start looking at with that speed he has. No doubt that guy that can have a low sense of gravity but run hard and is a guy that when you give him the outside edge will make the pay the price in a very big way.
Carter Dewberry, 6-1, 206, RB, 2022, Shawnee Mission South @Dewberrycarter
What’s not to like about all the great things this impressive 6-1, 206 pound back from Shawnee Mission South can do. Dewberry is a great athlete and physical player that has both power and toughness to go along with good speed and proves very hard to tackle. Can also catch the ball in the open field and turn up the field for huge gains, no doubt if the South offense is dangerous in 2021 it could largely be because of Dewberry’s big time plays and his abilities to make some huge plays for South as a senior leader in 2021. A great looking player for the next level with size, power and speed, big time promise for the talented young man.
Zahmari Gray, 5-7. 175, RB, 2022, Raytown @zahmarig
No doubt a player that has some big time skills and is a very athletic looking player with speed and very good vision to make some great runs for sure. Gray is a player that can make big time plays and is one of those players that was an All-State running back and player that uses his big time speed as an excellent return man and play maker for Raytown. A flyer from Kansas City, no doubt Gray is one of those elite speed prospects in the KC metro to know.
Bodi Isenhower, 5’7, 150, RB, 2022, Prairie View @Bodi79527908
One of the most underrated but impressive junior RBs in the Kansas class of 2022 that you will find, Prairie View’s Bodi Isenhower has 4.6 speed in the 40 yard dash and also had 775 rushing yards and scored nine touchdowns as a junior in a very impressive 2020 season. No doubt a runner that can use speed and can be very dangerous in the open field, Isenhower is one of those backs that we think will pull in 1,000 plus yards in 2021 as a senior and has all the skills to be a guy that gets 13-15 TDs on the season as well.
Keyan Miller, 5’7, 175, RB, 2022, Concordia @KeyanMiller
Miller has been a blazer at many camps and hit a 4.23 in the pro agility and had a 32.2 inch vertical this past offseason. Miller is one of the class of 2022 Rbs that is really grabbing some big attention, and rightfully so with his ability to be a big time ground gainer. Coming off a super sophomore year of 712 yards and a whopping 6.4 yards per carry, Miller is a guy that every time he touched the ball was ready to make the chains move. A player that scored six Tds and looks to be in for a big senior season. Solid speed a 4.65 in the 40 yard dash. We like Miller to be a 1,000 yard rusher and a double digit TD player in 2021 for Concordia. Watch out for one of Kansas top 2022 backs. In 2020 Miller was named a 1st Team All NCKL RB and a HM All-District 3A #5 RB.
Jelani Murray, 5’6, 155, RB, 2022, North Kansas City @JelaniMurray
Murray is a quick and mobile prospect who can weave his way in and out of traffic. He is a smaller back but he continues to produce whenever given the ball. He has good hands and an elusive nature and can power his way through contact or look to avoid it on the outside. He has good footwork and timing and good hand-eye coordination as well. A receiving back who can also see some time as a slot. A skilled prospect and an underrated rushing option in the Kansas City area.
Ian Poague, 5-10, 190, RB/LB, 2022, Andover @Ianpoague
No doubt when you look at what Poague can do on the football field its very impressive for sure, no doubt a player that can make big time runs with his 4.6 speed and a guy that has good vision, always looking up and ready to make the next big move and make a defender miss, squats 450 pounds also so for 190 pounds this guy is a major strong lower body guy and also benches 315 pounds, no doubt one of the amazing strong guys that can use speed and toughness to be a huge prospect for the next level. As a DB racked up 50 tackles, 2 INT’s and 15 pass breakups and has put on 45 pounds since last season and am now a FB/LB.
Sky Schriner, 5-8,170, RB, 2022, McPherson @sschriner25
No doubt this running back is one of the guys that refuses to go down, a very hard runner and guy that has speed also, great combo back that has toughness and a lot of energy to his running style, a guy that really makes big plays happen with us feet and a great offensive weapon for McPherson, Sky is among the Kansas must see backs to know.
Robbie Sharp, 5’8, 170, RB, 2022, St. Pius X @RobbieSharp20
An extremely productive athlete who can see time as a ball carrier and a defensive back. Sharp moves well and has good balance and can stay on his feet after contact. He’s an intelligent player who reports a 3.9 GPA and is earned All-State, district and all conference honors as a running back. Last season he rushed for 1,090 yards and averaged 6.1 yards per carry and had 17 total touchdowns. He finished the season with 1,719 all purpose yards and showed creativity on the move in the speed to break away from tackles in the second level.
Jackson Surratt, 5-11, 190, 2022, RB, Lee’s Summit West @JacksonSurratt
Surratt is a big time athlete and a very impressive back for Lee’s Summit West that can make some huge runs and some big time things happen. This two time academic All-State selection and multi sport athlete is an impressive and hard runner that can claim the outside edges for some big time runs and plays that are impressive and no doubt is a player that has the skills to be a big time ground gainer and an impressive KC area standout as an offensive impact maker.
Nate Windholz, 5-8, RB, 2022, Victoria @Nate71189430
A very hard working RB that is coming off a nice offseason and has improved his strength and power and should look to use that on the field in 2020. Windholz is a back that has the ability to get outside and once he gets the edge he has the speed to motor past most would be tacklers in the open field to make him a nice go to running back threat for Victoria in the junior class.
Ethan Wood, 5’11, 195, RB, 2022, Capital City @Ethx21W
Wood has good size and sense of direction and has a way of staying honest feed and keeping drives alive. He is an underrated player who has good speed and can find the edge and find his way down the field but he is constantly looking for areas to cut up the field and use his blockers where he can. He’s a multiple position player who can also see time as a linebacker. He has good power and balance and can break away from opponents but also showcase good strength and head on power up the middle.
Jaxon Wyatt, 5’9, 175, RB, 2022, Grain Valley @jaxonwyatt45
Wyatt is a first team all conference, all district and all-suburban player who shows good strength and toughness. A productive player who averaged 6.3 yards per carry this season and had 973 total yards and eight touchdowns and zero fumbles. Some good upside as a ball carrier given his speed and strength and one who can be counted on in big games to move the ball. A threat for LBs as he can get a step and change directions in space.
