The Central Florida region features several of the state’s top prospects at a variety of positions across the board. With off and on-campus recruiting shut down for the time being, Six Star Football is taking an inside look at the prospects college programs are looking at this offseason.
Here, Six Star Football takes a look at the top LB prospects to know in the 2021 class in the Heartland, Mid Florida, Orlando and Spacecoast areas.
Karlis Bailey-Vice, 6’1, 190, OLB, 2021, Bishop Moore @KarlisBailey
When looking at some of Florida’s best LB prospects a guy that is coming up and making a big name for himself is 6-1, 190 play maker and ball chaser Karlis Bailey-Vice of Bishop Moore. Karlis is a tenacious defender that is truly one of the most impressive physically built backers and tackles in Florida. A great athlete for sure, and is a hybrid DE/LB and a natural play blower upper from either spot with explosive play making skills and speed. Tough, physical and fast, among the most impressive men off the edge in all of Florida. Has offers from Army, Austin Peay, Eastern Illinois, Samford and TN Martin.
Malik Harp, 6’1, 205,OLB,2021, Ocoee @Malik_407 (pictured)
Harp is a flat out work as hard as you can LB that has good size and power and is a guy that can make big time plays with some great strength as well. One of the hardest working LB prospects in Florida, Harp with a big senior season will look to have many offers and we think he is one of the more underrated looking prospects that we think will blow up during the 2020 season. Offers from Missouri State, St. Thomas and interest from South Dakota among many. A very impressive play maker that play reader that can make some huge things happen, watch out for Harp in 2020 as a nice player on the rise among Florida’s best backers.
Curtis Spivey, 6’0, 220, MLB, 2021, Apopka @curtisspivey4
A great footwork guy that moves very well in space and also is powerful and a solid 220 pound player that can flat level ball carriers with his explosive power and ability to drive right through that man with the football in front of him. Spivey is a player on the rise with some nice college looks and a pair of offers on the table as well. We think he is one of the more underrated looking LBs in Florida and a guy that is a hard playing and very athletic LB to know and watch for in 2020. Also a 4.59 in the 40 shows you his LB speed and mobility as well. Has offers from Long Island and UT-Martin.
Danny Stutsman, 6’4, 225, MLB, 2021, Foundation @fbstutsman
This 6-4, 225 Oklahoma commit is a very tall and rangy LB that is a big timer for sure and impressed big time in 2019. Racked up 93 tackles, 17 tackles for losses, three sacks and had four forced fumbles as a junior for Foundation. Can play the pass and read QBs very well in coverage, very fast to the football and making quick reads then making up ground in a hurry and is one of the more emotional team leaders you will find as well. Very impressive and tall LB with speed and skill to offer.
DeShawn Troutman, 6’1,205, MLB, 2021, Edgewater @DeshawnTroutman
This Miami Hurricanes commit is a very good player that excels at nearly every aspect of the game on the Edgewater defense. A very fast player, always making up yards in a hurry and then an explosive play maker and tough nosed backer that hits hard and is a nice patient LB that is smart and reacts to the play and breaks it down very well then can use speed and power to finish off the tackle and make play after play.
