@GrantGovrik
Fast and physical is his game and he is one of the best LB’s in the state….Meet Bishop Kelley High School’s Grant Govrik. He is a player that watches tons of film every single week so he can know what’s coming. Once he sees it, he fills it up and get the man to the ground. Also Govrik has lots of trust in my teammates around him to do their job, so he can do mine.
Six Star — Describe your season and, how do you feel you played overall for 2018?
Grant—My team season is going very well with a 10-2 record, and undefeated district 5A-3 champs. We our now in semifinals of 5A playoffs. My season so far has gone great. I am the leading tackler on the team with 152 tackles. However, this is all thanks to my teammates who do their job and force the ball inside. I always feel like I could be playing better though. There is always something to get better at.
Six Star — What are some of the things that you feel you improved upon during this off season?
Grant—I have greatly improved on my overall game as a whole. This year is the first year I have played varsity so I have learned a ton from my coaches and the seniors. One of the main things I have improved on is ripping by and getting past blocks, along with my reads through the guards and my fits.
Six Star — Who has been the most influential person in your football life so far?
Grant—My brother, he has always motivated my whole life to be the best person I can be on and off the field. I could always count on him to work out with me or to teach me moves. I now get to watch him play D-Line for the University of Chicago.
Six Star — Tell us about your summer, camps, combines, visits, etc. Tell us about the experience and what you were able to take away from it, what camps you attended?
Grant—This summer I went to Trinity University with coaches from the Ivy Leagues, SMU, Tulsa, Arkansas, and Southeastern State. I was able to learn a lot from current college players and coaches that improved my game this season. I have had one unofficial visit to the University of Arkansas.
Six Star — What kind of college interest have you had so far, and what schools are showing you the most interest?
