ST. LOUIS — One of the St. Louis area’s biggest risers this spring, DeSmet 2020 Lanell Carr is drawing offers and attention from a host of college programs.
A versatile 6’3, 215-pound outside linebacker/defensive end who brings the heat off the edge, Carr is a strong athlete who is a terrific pass rusher, bringing quickness off the edge while playing a physical brand of football.
A big part of a talented sophomore class at DeSmet last season, Carr was a leader for the Spartans, leading the team with 52 tackles while added a pair of sacks and a fumble recovery.
“I am very happy with what I accomplished but I think I’m more better now than last year,” Carr said.
He says he is working hard this offseason with Elite Athletics adding defensive moves and improving his all-around play.
Carr says his family has had the biggest impact on his football career to date.
“They really want to see me make it to college,” he says.
To date, Carr currently holds offers from Kentucky, Louisiana Tech and most recently added an offer from Syracuse on May 15. He has taken unofficial visits to Miami (Ohio), Illinois, Mizzou, Southern Illinois and has plans to visit Oklahoma State, Purdue and Notre Dame.
