Meet Zach Schmit, one of the most focused focused and comfortable kickers you will find and a man that comes through under pressure when the game in on the line. “When I’m kicking I just block everything out and do the same routine every time.” Said Zach.
The Bishop McGuinness junior standout is one of the best kickers in the state and is a player that can count on when you need to get points on the board.
Six Star — How has your season gone this year
Zach—I’m pleased with the season so far. Our team is in the playoffs and playing well. Individually, I’m helping my team score points reliably and my touchback percentage on kickoffs is high when we’re not trying to place the ball somewhere else.
Six Star — Biggest Influence
Zach—My soccer coaches for putting me into competitive and high pressure situations. A lot of that carries over and helps with what I do on the football field.
Six Star — What camps did you attend and what did you take away from those
Zach—I’ve primarily attended National and Regional kicking camps with Kohl’s Kicking to compete, get training, and be evaluated. I’ll be attending these year round. They proved to me that I can compete with the best but need to continue working hard to get better. I missed most of the college kicking camps last summer because of soccer but will be looking into what schools might be a fit for me academically and athletically. I did well at a Kansas camp late last summer and recently had the opportunity for an unofficial visit to Oklahoma State which was great.
Six Star — Most people don’t know this about me but I:
Zach—Have played club soccer games against teams from 24 different states.
Six Star — Pre game ritual
