CARTHAGE, Mo. — Six Star Football held its first ever Camp & Combine on Sunday in Carthage, Mo., drawing more than 300 athletes from Missouri, Oklahoma and Kansas.
Here, we take a look at several 2020 quarterbacks who raised their profile at the event.
45 — Brandon Carlton, 5’10, 160, QB, 2020, Pocola @Brandon10925386
40 — 4.80 … Broad 8’5.5 … Short Shuttle 4.45 … Power Ball 37’4
Carlton was one of the most impressive QBs at the SixStarfootball combine and tested out very well with the best power ball ranking of any Oklahoma QB, proving he is an explosiveness to his game not to mention some good footwork with a 4.45 in the shuttle, also among the QB leaders from Oklahoma. Also posting an 8’5.5 in the broad jump, Carlton was among the best in Oklahoma’s QBs at the 2019 camp and we feel that it’s a testament to his pure overall and well rounded athletic ability, an attribute that will make him tough to face as well as attract some college attention.
138 — Nathan Banning, 6’4, 215, QB, 2020, Tulsa Edison @NathanBanning1
40 — x … Broad 6-2 … Short Shuttle x … Power Ball 27’11
Banning looks to be the main man under center for the Edison this upcoming season and with his 6-4, 215 frame he has all the makings of a leader and a producer. Edison has one of the most exciting running games you will find but Banning is back after being sidelined by an injury last season and will no doubt give defenses another thing to worry about….A passing threat that can hit receivers in stride and hit his targets well.
145 — Tate Christian, 6’2, 200, QB, 2020, Tahlequah @tchristian_12
40 — 4.88 … Broad 7’3 … Short Shuttle 4.84 … Power Ball 33’2
Christian is a player you just can’t ignore with a 6-2 frame and a proven leader and winner, Tate just gets the job done time and time again, proven by his 2018 season record at the QB spot as a junior. Uses good footwork and is a play maker that is one of those players every team would love to have leading them down the field. We see Christian as a diverse field general who plays even better when rushed and under pressure, the field general type who makes great plays when the pocket collapses, Christian is one of the more impressive QB’s as far as down field vision and play making ability.
153 — Jacob Fitzer, 6’2, 197, QB/LB, 2020, Eufaula @JacobFitzer
40 — 5.25 … Broad 8’7 … Short Shuttle 4.69 … Power Ball 31’5
A player that will do whatever it takes for help his team win, Fitzer is one of the more competitive and tough nosed kids that you will find and at 6-2 197 he also can be a load to stop for opponents of Eufaula. Fitzer did rack up so numbers to take notice of with an 8’7 broad, a 4.69 shuttle and a 31.5 power, numbers and his size make him a player that will have to be accounted for by defenses this upcoming season.
169 — Colton Laughlin, 6’3, 200, QB, 2020, Mangum @laughlin_colton
40 — 4.85 … Broad 8’5 … Short Shuttle 4.65 … Power Ball 35’10
Total package QB, a 6-3, 200 pounder Laughlin has some great size for QB and not to mention his powerball 35’10 number was the second best for any Oklahoma QB at 6Star. His 4.65 in the shuttle was also a number to look at, and put him among the top 10 OKLA QBs in that category. Also a QB that has some decent speed with a 4.85 in the 40, Laughlin has a good arm and good legs/footwork. We think he is a QB with a huge upside and one colleges should take a good look at.
192 — Cavin Russell, 6’1, 200, QB, 2020, Minco @Cavin__
40 — 4.93 … Broad 8-11 … Short Shuttle 4.72 … Power Ball 34’1
Ranked in the top five off all OKLA QBs for powerball rankings and is one of those players that has that type of impressive power and next level athletic skills. One of the most impressive arms you will find, Russell really knows how to air it out and we look for him to be one of the states premier passing leaders in 2019. Tied Perkins Tryon’s Austin Mages and Collinsville’s Andrew Carney
for top broad jump (8’11) among all Oklahoma QB’s. Not just an impressive field general with a strong arm, the 6-1 200 pounder has good size and shows he also can separate himself athletically from the pack.
138 — Riley Walker, 5’11, 180, QB, 2020, Rejoice Christian @riley_walker11
40 — 4.85 … Broad 8’6.5 … Short Shuttle 4.56 … Power Ball 35’5
Walker is a do it all kind of QB and with one of the states top rushers moving on to the next level expect Walker to really prove just how great and strong his arm is in a passing attack that could set Rejoice Christian apart from the competition once again in 2019. Walker Really put up some of the better numbers when you look at across the board productivity. Riley had one of the better 40 times with a 4.85 and also showed out with a 4.56 in the shuttle but his powerball of 35’5 ranked second among all Oklahoma QBs and showed at SixStar just how powerful and explosive the veteran QB can be.
204 — Price Ward, 6’2, 180, K/P/QB, 2020, Vinita @PriceWard12
40 — 4.84 … Broad 8’8 … Short Shuttle 4.91 … Power Ball 33’1
The kicker/punter combo, QB, Ward is a guy that just gets the job done and does it all well. Vinita’s senior class will be counted on heavily this season and Ward is one of those lofty veterans that could bring some wins to a good core. At 6-2, 180 not bad size and His 4.84 40 time and 33’1 powerball are respectable for sure.
209 — Peyton Wilson, 6’1, 190, QB, 2020, Luther @pwilson1029
40 — 5.22 … Broad 8’3 … Short Shuttle 4.75 … Power Ball 33’0
We like a lot of what we see in Wilson, the 6-1 gunslinger from Luther is a top notch QB that is a potentially big time talent. Wilson is one of the fiercest competitors in the state and is a QB that loves to win. Despite being injured for a few games in 2018, Wilson still threw for over 1,500 yards and 13 TDs. He is one of those guys that we really could see going off big time in 2019 and has all those tools to be a show stopper.
219 — Ben Winters, 6’1, 180, QB, 2020, Bartlesville @Ben_winters7
40 — 5.13 … Broad 7’11 … Short Shuttle 4.43 … Power Ball 32’4
Bartlesville coaches and players have good reason to be excited about the future of Ben Winters, a 6-1, 180 leader that lead all Oklahoma QB’s with a 4.43 in the shuttle. A very impressive time, Winters has some very nice footwork and a arm to boot. We look for him to be one of those players that can get it down through the air of on the ground. Also a 32.4 powerball, among the select group of QBs for Oklahoma that went over 30’ at SixStar. The Bruins have some very nice players in tact for the upcoming season and with Winters leading the way we see a talented kid that has a lot of potential.
