A versatile and athletic offensive line prospect, DeSmet 2021 Brody Wisecarver has opted to take his talents across the border as he chose Illinois over a host of Power 5 suitors.
At 6’5, 300-pounds, Wisecarver has been a fixture at left tackle for Class 6A DeSmet as a four-year starter. He has a strong, physical base and is a technician in pass protection.
However, he also has the athleticism to move to an interior line spot in the future.
“They are wanting to play me at tackle and see where I should be from there,” Wisecarver said. “I am able to play both guard and tackle positions I am working on center.”
Wisecarver says he built a relationship with assistant coaches Cory Patterson and offensive line coach Bob McClain and says academics and the likelihood he may have an opportunity to compete for a spot early on in his career played a big role in his decision.
A fan of Illinois All America tackle Kendrick Green, Wisecarver says he has been focused on improving his strength and speed work this offseason and is working hard towards defending the Spartans’ 2019 Class 6A state championship.
