A look at several talented Six Star Football Showcase prospects putting together strong senior seasons
With the 2021 season set to begin soon, Six Star Football takes a look at several Prospects who shined this spring at the Six Star Football Florida Showcase in Fort Lauderdale and are putting together a big senior season this fall.
Isaiah Espreo, 5’11, 190, OLB/FB, 2022, Inlet Grove < Berean Christian @Isaiah_Espreo Palm Beach (SE)
A solid player who can see times on both sides of the ball. Espreo is a tough player with solid size and athleticism. He can make things happen down center field and is good at making tackles in head-on situations. He can get from one side of the field to the other and can help his teammates finish plays when it looks like the ball carrier is going to pull away. He has good hands as well and can come away with an interception and is good at pressuring the QB and is good at the line and in space some as well. Also a good blocker and solid FB. Espreo is an intelligent player and student who reports a 3.7 GPA.
Nate Kidd, 6’1, 230, OLB/DE, 2022, Wiregrass Ranch @NateKiddJr Nature Coast (SW)
Kidd is a versatile player on the defensive side of the ball who can make tackles, come away with interceptions and stop ball carriers in their tracks. He is a versatile athlete who shows up as both a defensive end and a linebacker and contributes well wherever he’s placed. He is constantly grinding and pressuring the quarterback and is able to come away with the sack, an interception and a statement tackle for loss. A player who pushes himself in the off-season and the weight room (500 max squat) who continues to develop and make plays. He currently holds an offer from Valley State. Also a standout student in the classroom who reports a 4.1 GPA.
Santiago Lopez, 5’11, 190, DE/OLB, 2022, Belen Jesuit @Slopez2022 Miami Dade (SE)
A strong and physical defensive prospect who can see time as a LB and a DE and also shows up well on special teams and as a blocker. A player who can fill several spots and brings good effort and energy to the field. Lopez has good strength and experience and a good IQ and is able to make some good hits as well. A player who has worked hard over the off-season and has continued to work on his footwork, overall conditioning and his strength training in the weight room.
KeMaury Mathis, 5’10, 185, OLB, 2022, West Port @kemaury15 Mid-Florida (Central)
A player who looks to get a read on a play and jump and make something happen in the backfield. Mathis is an energetic player who has good overall speed and intensity and is always looking for an advantage. He is a good tackler and can help his teammates finish plays, but is also capable of making his own mark in the open field. He shows good footwork, can change directions and slip past blockers and make contact on ball carriers and even finish tackles when it looks like an opponent is about to break free. He has a good IQ and is constantly working and adding to his game and reacts well when rushing the passer.
Andre Phillips, 6’1, 220, OLB, 2022, Apopka @underdawgpete Orlando (Central)
Phillips is a smart and aggressive LB who can handle himself at the line as well as in space against athletic skill players. He likes to attack quickly after the snap and can push and pull opponents out of the way like a lineman and is good at pooping into space and filling gaps, making tackles and taking the air out of the offense. Has good overall size at 6’1, 220-pounds, holds his weight and shows good leverage and some speed as well. Plays with a lot of heart and can lay out some solid hits and tackles when he has room to gain momentum. Phillips picked up Division I offers from Arkansas Pine Bluff and Jackson State, and later added an offer from Arkansas Baptist as well.
Lavoris Ruth, 5’10, 202, OLB, 2022, Mainland @Kenno2x Daytona & St. John’s (NE)
Ruth has good hands and strong arms and can knock away the hands of blockers and get to the ball. He has good vision and experience and has the ability to fight his way through contact and still get a hand on the ball carrier. Ruth has a good build and speed and athleticism and can stay on his mark and continue to apply pressure. Ruth is good at adjusting his game and can stop and change directions and pull down opponents from behind as well. A natural athlete who has a lot of potential in his game and a great work ethic on and off the field.
Joshua Wiles, 6’3, 200, OLB/LS, 2022, Lake Brantley @JoshWiles8 Orlando (Central)
Another multiple position athlete who shows a good IQ, solid frame and the ability to produce in a variety of situations. Wiles is a long athlete with good speed and quickness off the line who is able to make some strong and impressive hits in the backfield. He has creativity to his game as a pass rusher and has good upper body strength and active hands and can target the ball and force the QB to scramble and rush plays. He shows good toughness and energy and is a leader both vocally and by example. Also a versatile linebacker who shows good mobility and timing and can make plays on both receivers and on the ground. An intelligent player who is also a standout in the classrooms, reporting a 3.5 GPA, 1220 SAT and a 25 ACT.
