With the 2021 season winding down to its conclusion soon, Six Star Football takes a look at several St. Louis area rising prospects in the 2023 class to know.
Trevor Buhr, 6’4, 270, DE, 2023, Washington @BuhrTrevor
An imposing two-way prospect who has good strength and physicality. Buhr has great size for a pass rusher and can see time inside, on the edge and also on offense. He is an elite athlete for Washington who has shown a lot of upside defensively, has a great frame at 6’4, 270-pounds and is able to get around blockers and force the QB out of the pocket. He is quick on his feet and he can use his speed on the outside and up and middle and even in open field. He can track down ball carriers and even pull down scrambling QBs from behind or head-on. Buhr currently holds an offer from Kansas University and has taken visits to Mizzou, Alabama and Kentucky and has received interest from Memphis.
Marvin Burks Jr, 6’2, 190, DB/WR, 2023, Cardinal Ritter @marvinburks7
Burks is a quick and athletic defender who can burst off the line and get to the back field to make plays. A tall prospect 62, 190-pounds who can fly around the field, knock down passes, break up plays and come up with big tackles for a loss. He has great tracking ability in good length and a lot of power to his hits. He’s a versatile athlete on both sides of the ball and a good blocker as well. An intelligent player on the field who can punch the ball out or rip it away from opponents and is always ready to create with the ball in his hands. Burks currently holds offers from Nebraska, MIzzou, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Arkansas, Colorado, Vanderbilt, Iowa State, Kansas, West Virginia and Arkansas State.

Demetrion Cannon, 6’1, 193, WR/TE, 2023, DeSmet @demetrionn9
A tough and athletic receiving option who has a good combination of size, length and speed. A 6’1, 193-pound athlete who has a good catch radius and the ability to get open and even complete catches against a physical and intelligent CB. Cannon has a quick first step off the line and can also create after the catch some. He has good hands and is very reliable and can sell his routes and break away to the outside or turn and cut back inside and into the endzone. Cannon averaged 13.7 yards per attempt for the season on 15 attempts with 205 yards and five touchdowns. Cannon has received interest from Mizzou, Middle Tennessee, Yale and Murray State to name a few.
Tyler Gant, 6’3, 260, DL, 2023, CBC @TyGant44
An elite defensive lineman who shows great strength and upside. Gant has good size at 6’3, 270-pounds and adds good length and underrated speed overall. He is aggressive off the line and is constantly applying great pressure to the QB and can also break off blockers and stop the ball. An explosive defensive prospect who has a terrific frame and the athleticism and power to overwhelm opponents looking to hold him back. Gant has recorded 68 total tackles through 13 games with 30 solo, 15 tackles for loss with 38 assists, five sacks and one interception. He also is a standout in the classroom as he reports a 4.2 GPA. Gant has received offers from Arkansas, Wisconsin, Iowa, Kentucky, Arkansas State, Boston College, Colorado, Illinois and Indiana to name a few.

Chase Hendricks, 6’0,190, WR, 2023, St. Mary’s @ChaseHendricks_
An elite prospect with a strong skill set and the ability to create on his own. Hendricks has good size at 6’0, 190-pounds and adds great athleticism and in-game quickness. He can find separation through a variety of fakes and hesitation moves both inside and outside the numbers and he consistently wins one-on-one matchups. A creative prospect as he looks to create space but also strong after the catch and able to make things happen and stay on his feet. A red zone and open field threat who is constantly working and looking for ways to take his game up a notch. Hendricks currently holds offers from Wyoming, Iowa State, Kansas, Texas, Purdue and Arizona State.
Jamond Mathis, 6’4, 225, DE/RB, 2023, Duchesne @MathisJamond
An underrated prospect and multiple position athlete who shows the ability to surprise opponents and do a bit of everything on the field. He is a standout pass rusher who can also make impressive plays as a ball carrier and as a receiving option. Listed at 6’4, 225-pounds, Mathis shows great strength and mobility and is able to deliver some impressive hits and tackles on his own. He can get around opponents as a ball carrier and even run over opponents as well. Mathis has recorded 46 total tackles for the season with 42 solo, seven tackles for loss, four assist, five sacks and two fumble recoveries. He also has 606 total yards, 464 rushing and 142 receiving. He is averaging 28.4 yards per catch (two touchdowns) and 7.1 yards per carry with eight rushing touchdowns.
Donovon McIntosh, 6’3, 170, DB/S, 2023, St. Mary’s @Donovan__314
A great sized defensive back who can make drive-saving tackles in space and he shows good technique and power. Mclntosh is listed at 6’3, 170-pounds, has great length and can make some impressive things happen through the air as well. He is a lockdown defender who can completely take away opposing teams first option and is also great at breaking off and diving out to make a tackle. Has delivered some impressive hits against ball carriers, can target the ball as well and has good situational awareness and good timing as well. A physical and athletic prospect who has taken his game up a notch this season. He recently picked up his first two offers in November from Arkansas and Kansas.
Allen Mitchell, 5’11, 175, RB, 2023, DeSmet @Allentyler314
A strong and elite RB with good power, control and overall speed. Mitchel is listed at 5’11, 170-pounds and he has some receiving ability as well. He is quick on his feet and has great vision and can stop and change directions and create using his blockers and on his own. He has a great eye for openings and can tiptoe his way along the sideline or burst through openings and even power through contact as well. Allen averaged 7.4 yards per carry on 46 attempts and had 342 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. He had 18 receptions as well and averaged 10.4 yards per catch and finished with 188 receiving yards. Mitchell currently holds offers from Kansas, Illinois, Kansas State, Kentucky, Michigan State and Minnesota and has received interest from other programs as well.

Fredrick Moore, 6’1, 175, WR, 2023, Cardinal Ritter @FredrickMoore6_
A standout athlete who has good ability and upside. Moore has good size at 6’1, 175-pounds and is quick after the catch and with his routes. He finds separation in one-on-one situations and has shown an ability to make some impressive catches in a variety of situations on his own and against tight coverage. Has some straight line speed at his advantage and is creative with the ball in his hands. Plays quick and with good athleticism and shows up both out of the backfield and on big plays outside the numbers. Moore currently holds offers from Iowa State, Arkansas, Arkansas State, Maryland and Kansas and he has had game invites visits to Georgia, Illinois, Notre Dame. Moore also reports a 3.3 GPA.
