Blue Springs South spoiled Homecoming on Friday at Raymore-Peculiar with a runaway 49-16 win on the road. Both teams are now 2-4 this season.
Brody Parker, 6’6, 215, QB, 2018, Blue Springs South (pictured)
Parker committed to Southern Illinois this fall and there has been a lot of speculation about what position he’ll play at the next level. Truth is, he’s a really good high school quarterback who has terrific size and an athletic frame. You could see him finding a place at several different positions at SIU (WR, TE), including quarterback.
Trey Vaval
, 6’1, 160, CB, 2019, Blue Springs South
Vaval hauled in an impressive over-the-shoulder interception and made an impressive return for a near touchdown. He and Ray-Pec 2020 WR Luke Grimm were matched up against each other throughout much of the contest and it was easily among the game’s top one-on-one battles. Vaval is fourth on his team in tackles this season.
NOTES: An earlier version of this story misidentified Vaval as 2018 WR DJ Frost.
Luke Grimm, 5’11, 154, WR, 2020, Raymore-Peculiar
Kid is an impressive player. He’s not real big and strong just yet, but he’s super quick, runs good routes and really attacks the ball in the air. Grimm consistently comes up with tough catches as he out wills an opponent for the ball. He’s elusive after the catch and is an elite competitor, really gets after it. On Friday, he hauled in nine passes for 148 yards and a TD. In six games this season he has caught 29 passes for 521 yards and three scores.
Chase Hutchinson, 6’3, 295, LT, 2019, Raymore-Peculiar
Hutchison is still growing as a player but he’s been competing at left tackle as a young player this season, one of the most important positions on the field. He has held his own, showing good size, feet and athleticism for a tackle. Definitely a player to watch in the trenches in the KC area in the years to come.
CJ Murray, 6’4, 270, RT, 2018, Blue Springs South
Murray is an impressive lineman who hasn’t really received a lot of acclaim from recruiting experts or media types. He has good size and moves his feet well and brings good athleticism to the field.
Tristan Roper, 6’4, 255, LT, Blue Springs South
Kid is kind of flying under the radar this season. He has good size and has a frame that could add good weight as he gets older. Much like Murray, Roper hasn’t really drawn a lot of attention on recruiting websites, etc., that we can find, but that will likely change over the next year.
Zach Starforth, 6’5, 300, RT, 2018, Raymore-Peculiar
He’s a big, strong kid that has terrific size and a strong, powerful frame. Moves his feet well in the pass game for a big man, and provides a struggling team with a rock solid performance week-in and week-out. He committed to Illinois State earlier in the summer and is among the premier offensive linemen in Kansas City this season.
Ethan Swanegan, 6’5, 210, WR, 2018, Blue Springs South
He’s an impressive looking athlete, long, rangy with a good frame and athleticism. He provides a huge window and target for his quarterback, is a physical blocker on the edge and is a good play maker.
