SIX STAR FOOTBALL SCOUTING REPORT: Good size and athletic ability. Showing very good initial quickness off the ball, and is quick to engage and shed. Good lateral agility and speed to track down the ball carrier on outside runs or in scramble situations. Shows a good arsenal of pass rush moves for his young career, with a technical improvement over the course of his 2023 season. Good at speed to power moves, due to good leg drive and upper body / core strength. Solid foot placement and footspeed when engaging offensive linemen. Solid use of hands when engaging and is able to maintain gap integrity vs the run. Consistently shows very good physical toughness, due to an ability to hold his ground vs frequent double teams.

ANALYSIS: Mathis was one of if not the most athletic looking class of '28 prospects at Sunday's Oklahoma Showcase, you just don't see many 6-4, 230 pound DEs that are his age and when you look at his frame and unlimited potential you really see one of the diamonds in the rough for pure talent in the coming years. Cashton, also a basketball player, showed some very impressive looking quickness off the snap, and was one of those guys who really looked like one of the most athletic pass rushers in attendance. We think he will only get quicker and bigger in the coming years, Mathis could even grow in length and be a 6-6 to 6-7, 250 pounder in the coming years.

GREATEST STRENGTHS: impressive looking frame, power, length, edge physicality
